Progressing the understanding of materials chemistry with ML guided synthesis.

Our lab is collaborating with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) to formulate materials for organic flow batteries. We are using Bayesian optimization to iteratively generate conditions for the chemical synthesis which are fed into the synthesis robot at PNNL for physical synthesis and characterization. This ML-guided process allows for faster exploration of the material space as well as optimization of material conditions for high yield of the material product.
